Andrzej Borowski. The Third horizon

The geometries of sunflower fields stand up to the horizon … They are adorned with a delicate golden glow. The clods of land plowed in place of the softness of the landscape speak of humility. (…)
Gallery Katarzyna Napiorkowska in Brussel presents the latest paintings from a series that the artist entitled Third Horizon.

ANDRZEJ BOROWSKI studied at the Faculty of Graphic Arts and the Department of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow.

The artist comes from the professor`s Zbysław Maciejewski`s atelier; hence his early fascination with the painting of Pierre Bonnard.

In his paintings, Andrzej Borowski always sought a new form of expression to overcome the literary meaning of what is represented. (…) Over time, the artist reduced his compositions. He sought a synthesis that could manifest itself not in a slow, but a necessary and less spectacular process, but in a punctual and unexpected moment of discovery.

The Katarzyna Napiórkowska art gallery in Brussels presents the latest paintings created after the plain-air in Aquitaine which was for the artist such a decisive moment.

The geometries of sunflower fields stand up to the horizon … They are adorned with a delicate golden glow. The clods of land plowed in place of the softness of the landscape speak of humility. (…)

The artist seems to be speechless in front of these revelations of nature with its limitless power. He is accompanied in this fascination by works of Vincent Van Gogh and Anselm Kiefer, who inspire him.

Painting becomes an attempt to reach something more: the Impossible- the next horizon. A third horizon, as suggested by the author in the title of one of the last paintings.
